About the event

This webinar brings together leading international associations to explore how inter-regional cooperation, policy alignment, and cross-sector partnerships can accelerate the commercialization of SAF globally. It will highlight how alliances like Global Biofuels Alliance and International Association for Green Aviation can serve as bridges between biofuel producers, aviation stakeholders and governments, particularly in Asia.

Mr. Eason Chen currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the SAF Center under the Second Research Institute of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CASRI SAF Center). Together with his team, Eason plays an important role in shaping national SAF policy, establishing industry standards, and advancing cutting-edge technologies that propel China’s decarbonization of aviation. He hold several supporting roles as ICAO CAEP expert, ICCAIA ANEC Committee member and think-tank expert of Chinese Petroleum Society.

Prior to joining CASRI SAF Center, Eason has already built an exemplary reputation in SAF industry. As General Manager of Sichuan Tianzhou—one of western China’s largest SAF producers—he oversaw corporate strategy, stakeholder engagement, feedstock sourcing, and global sales, driving the company’s rapid expansion and market leadership.

Earlier in his career, Eason held pivotal positions at ExxonMobil and bp. Notably, he was appointed as the inaugural General Manager of the landmark joint venture between bp and China National Aviation Fuel General Aviation Company, where he pioneered initiatives that continue to influence China’s aviation-energy landscape. His deep expertise in carbon-reduction pathways and the global energy transition positions him as a leading voice in sustainable aviation.

Ms. Isha Mittal currently serves as a consultant with Global Biofuels Alliance. She has co-authored publications on non grain based biofuels and bio based diesel alternatives, worked on programmes and projects related to the acceleration of biofuels and supported GBA’s participation at various global forums such as COP28, COP29, WEF, G7 and G20. Before working with GBA, she has worked with companies in upstream and downstream oil and gas sector.

The series aims to provide industry professionals and stakeholders with comprehensive insights and analyses of the latest developments and trends in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) specifically within the Asian context. Targeting fuel producers, policymakers, investors, technology licensers and other key players in the SAF value chain, the webinars will delve into technical and specialized topics that address the complexities of SAF.

Participants can expect in-depth discussions on production technologies, regulatory frameworks, market trends, and investment opportunities tailored to the unique needs and interests of the Asian market. Each session will adopt a rigorous, evidence-based approach, leveraging the expertise of leading experts and practitioners in the field.

The format will include detailed presentations, case studies, and interactive panel discussions, fostering an environment for participants to engage with complex topics and exchange ideas with peers. Ultimately, the series aims to equip stakeholders with valuable insights and actionable intelligence to inform their decision-making and strategic development in the rapidly evolving SAF landscape.
