Hong Kong Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition Annual Symposium 2026

Aviation continues to be one of the most challenging sectors to decarbonise in the drive toward net-zero emissions. As global momentum accelerates, sustainable aviation fuel (“SAF”) stands out as the primary solution for achieving meaningful emissions reductions in the near term. Following global trends set by the EU, UK, Singapore, and Chinese Mainland in scaling up SAF deployment and adoption, Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation hub presents both the responsibility and the opportunity to spearhead regional progress. In the Policy Address 2025, the HKSAR Government pledged to establish a comprehensive SAF industry chain and set consumption targets for departing flights by 2030.

Business Environment Council (“BEC”) launched the Hong Kong Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition (“HKSAFC”) programme in January 2024 to engage multi-stakeholders in developing Hong Kong’s position as a regional and global hub for SAF; deliver forefront research on SAF feasibility and strategies in Hong Kong; scale SAF supply chain and adoption in Hong Kong with competitive costs; and promote the introduction of SAF-industry-related support policies by the HKSAR Government.

Approaching the second anniversary since the launch of HKSAFC, BEC is hosting the HKSAFC Annual Symposium 2026. This year's symposium recognises the collective achievements of BEC and HKSAFC Partners in advancing SAF advocacy, industry partnerships, and stakeholder engagement across Hong Kong’s aviation sector. As Hong Kong strengthens its position as a leading international aviation hub, the symposium will spotlight HKSAFC's commitment to supporting the Government’s SAF ambition, while emphasising the vital role of collaboration along the entire value chain. Through knowledge exchange and multi-stakeholder dialogue, the event aims to accelerate SAF adoption and reinforce Hong Kong’s role as a catalyst for sustainable aviation in the region.
