ENEOS Corporation joins ASAFA to advance SAF adoption in Asia-Pacific

Singapore, 16 June 2026 – Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel Association (ASAFA) is pleased to welcome ENEOS Corporation (ENEOS), Japan's leading oil and energy company, as its newest silver member through its wholly owned subsidiary in Singapore, ENEOS Oil & Energy Asia Pte. Ltd.

With a heritage dating back to 1888 and operations spanning nine refineries across Japan, ENEOS is at the forefront of Japan's SAF development. The company is advancing large-scale SAF production at its Wakayama Plant through a strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation. These efforts reflect ENEOS's commitment to supporting Japan's aviation decarbonization goals and broader regional net-zero strategies.

Fabrice Espinosa, Founder & CEO of ASAFA, shared, "We are thrilled to welcome ENEOS as a member of ASAFA. As Japan's largest petroleum company with over 135 years of refining expertise, ENEOS brings unparalleled infrastructure, technology partnerships, and market leadership that will be instrumental in scaling SAF adoption across the Asia-Pacific region. Their Wakayama project represents a critical milestone for Japan's aviation fuel transformation and the broader regional supply chain."

Masayasu Inoue, Deputy Managing Director of ENEOS Oil & Energy Asia Pte. Ltd., shared, “We are honored to join ASAFA and look forward to contributing to the development and broader adoption of SAF not only in Japan but across the Asia-Pacific region by utilizing our deep expertise in fuel refining and marketing. We believe this membership will promote further collaboration and initiatives that support the continued growth of the SAF industry.”

ENEOS's integrated approach provides a strong foundation for SAF commercialization in Japan and across the region. Selected for Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) "Support Project for SAF Production and Supply Chain Development," ENEOS combines government support with its extensive refining expertise, distribution infrastructure, and strategic market position to accelerate Japan's transition to sustainable aviation fuels.

ENEOS's participation in ASAFA aligns with its mission to address climate change and advance toward a decarbonized, circular society. With Japan targeting SAF supply equivalent to over 5% of FY2019 domestic jet fuel GHG emissions by 2030 and maintaining strict emissions reduction commitments under CORSIA and ICAO's 2050 net-zero goal, ENEOS's SAF initiatives complement ongoing work across the Asia-Pacific region to promote clean aviation, circular feedstock sourcing, and low-carbon fuel infrastructure.
